As more residents move to Woolwich, the municipality continues to add commercial developments to provide modern amenities. Currently, Woolwich is developing the Kingsway Town Center, a project whose first commercial section will be known as “Main Street at Woolwich” with a design that proposes a village atmosphere in an actual downtown main street. Approximately 3,000,000 square feet of commercial property will eventually be developed for the project. Other projects include the 250,000–square-foot Weatherby Town Center. But developers and residents are making sure that Woolwich’s growth doesn’t detract from its natural beauty by using the state’s “Smart Growth” to ensure that Woolwich maintains its distinctive charm and atmosphere. To compliment the continued growth of Woolwich, the community is actively involved in sponsoring a number of events throughout the year. The summer months come alive in Woolwich, with the popular park events such as Fun Day and National Night Out. The park, located on Locke Avenue, includes playground equipment, soccer fields, baseball fields and a walking trail. New plans resulted in 56 more acres being added to the park. Residents also take advantage of Swedesboro’s Lake Park, which includes play sets and a nature trail along Lake Narraticon, perfect for fresh-water fishing. If you are looking for a place with a vibrant community spirit with an emphasis on continued—yet smart—development then Woolwich should be among your stops. |
